As this year comes to a close, I want to thank you, my readers, for joining me in this blog’s conversation about religion and spirituality in the world today. Some of you have responded by writing comments and in emails to me. Even clicking a “Like” button indicates your engagement with these topics. And I know these posts often prompt conversations among your friends and family. I hope your engagement will continue and grow in the new year to come.

This is also my one time in the year that I ask you directly to consider making a gift of any size to support my efforts here. Since I started this blog two years ago at this time, the various annual licenses and fees for the services that make a Web presence possible come due about now. As a bonus, here is one of my favorite carols on YouTube. This is a studio recording of the Irish Wexford Carol, featuring Alison Kraus and Yo-Yo Ma. The carol likely dates from the 15th or 16th century and tells the familiar biblical Christmas story. What I like about it is that its restrained melody conveys well the combination of seriousness and joy found in the accounts of both Matthew and Luke. Especially if this carol or recording is new to you, I hope you enjoy it.
