Thank you for visiting my website! My name is Doug Kings and I am a recently retired Lutheran (ELCA) pastor. Originally a Chicagoan, I have returned to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where I live with my husband, Joe, and our dog, Lana.

In the past, I have written blog posts for my congregations and now am doing so here. My goal is to try and make sense of a world where fewer and fewer people have use for traditional religion, yet want purpose in their life and connection with some transcendent reality, called God, spirit, consciousness, higher power, or whatever term they choose. I write about the state of religion and the church, events in the world, trends in popular culture, and spirituality, in both its religious and non-religious expressions.

My posts are simply my ideas and observations–not pronouncement from on high. I hope for and look forward to you responses, as I think sharing and conversation is our best hope for moving forward.
